I love the idea of recycling gently worn shirts, cotton bed skirts; ect. My question; When taking apart these items,'Do you unsew each seam? How far do you take it apart?'
Seams like I'm spending an awful lot of time ripping apart. Any suggestions?
    Thanks

Why not just cut right next to the seams?

Depends - if it's a flat felled seam - I cut up to the seams and discard the flat felled part.

    I'm not THAT into unsewing!

Sometimes I will undo a hem on a sheet or something - and will use the material in the hem - if it's wide/deep enough.

I love quilts made from shirts and other fabrics. I don’t have any suggestions on cutting the bed skirts for you, have never tried it. I’d probably cut up to the seam but not sure that this is the best way.

I made 1 shirt quilt years ago as a memory quilt for a friend’s Mom. Didn’t know about this tutorial then or I would have given it a try. Maybe you’ll find it helpful.

I’d love to see pictures when you are finished.

I would only cut alongside the seams - unless the fabric was especially precious or I needed a specific length that I couldn't get any other way, I wouldn't go to the bother of unsewing. I spend enough time with that darn thing in my hand as it is. I would rotary cut as much as possible. :)
