What weight thread for hand sewn binding
#1
I know you use a single thread for this, do you use that heavier weight quilting thread? I have bought this by mistake in the past for regular sewing and realized when I went to use on machine it was for quilting. thank You for input.

I have used regular sewing thread, the same as in my machine, normally use what is left in the bobbin and have had no problems. Does this mean you are going to hand-bind your Dresden plate quilt? I would be glad to do it for you, Suz.

Yes I am going to hand quilt the binding, I pinned it to the back on all four sides and when I started to hand sew the binding, the thread kept getting tangled in the pins, I had a pin every 1 1/2 inches so now I am almost done, glueing the binding with washable school glue and I will start the hand sewing. LOL because I used every pin I had. Thank you Diane but I have to learn this. I let you all know when I am done. I will use regular thread, singel strand. Seams like a waste of time but I want to enter in my quilt guild show this fall so I will bite the bullet. I guess I'll get use to it. Suzanne

Suzanne, I promise you will not regret doing your binding by hand. You can always use hair clips. I am very proud of you for doing this for your beautiful Dresden Plate. You are creating an heirloom. Look at it is icing on the cake. If I lived closer to you, I would do it for you.

I Know you would do this for me. You deserve a medal for all the quilts you do for charity. You will probably have lobster in heaven and the best wine and congnac and also chocolate to (die)? LiIVE for. I need a name for this quilt next. Got any ideas?

Suzanne, are you mad at me? I am at a loss for names, Plates of Scraps? I love your quilt, and can't wait to see it all finished. Suzanne's Sizzler? I am not good at this. I'll pm you with some other good news.
