I like many have learned to quilt and knit from my grandmother. She prefers to hand quilt and has recently made me a gorgeous cathedral window quilt for my king size bed.
I am looking at making her a quilt for Christmas as a surprise and a thank you for my beautiful quilt.
I was thinking of making her the same quilt (cathedral window) in hues of pink.
Does anyone else have any other great ideas for a quilt pattern for a great woman?
I've looked at the grandmother basket etc. but was looking for something unusual or different.
Thanks,
Tracy

Maybe a cathedral window with pale pink and the windows of various shades of pink batik. Or tiny patterns of various pinks, ranging from light to almost deep red with maybe some sparkle there, even if it's from pink embroidery thread.

Something personal to her would be good, maybe something to match the style and colors in her home decor?

Welcome from Maryland, by the way!

How experienced a quilter are you?

You may need help to get a cathedral quilt done before Christmas if you have never quilted much before. Why not try something you know you can finish and later embellish it to make it more personal?

I've been working on some quilts (most are fairly simple) but because I've gotten stuck, I've missed some (self imposed) deadlines. Not knowing your grandmother's age or health, I think she would really enjoy working with you on a quilt that the two of you can do so it can get done.

Later after she passes, you can get it back with all of the fun memories of how she worked on it with you, making it even more special. Just a thought.
