I am not an empty nester...my 35 yr. old son on disability lives with us. The way the economy is going, he may always be here! He has a piece of land adjoining us with water and septic; but cannot afford to buy a mobile home to put on it.

I became an empty nester 5 weeks after my 45th birthday :D and 2 months after I turned 45 I became a Grama :D So yes, life changed a lot for me during those two months LOL

I had a few friends who were already empty nesters and more who were very jealous of my new found status :D

There are pros and cons to having an empty nest, I do miss my kids, but it was time for them to be out on their own :D:D:D

I enjoy having my grands come to visit, it is the best of both worlds :D We have a lot of fun, they wear me out, and then they get to go home. None of the financial stress, parenting duties, just the fun and enjoyment of their company. :D:D:D

I was 48 when my husband left, 1 1/2 years later my youngest went to college. Both of my son's are now married. I married again in 2005. My husband's two kids lived with us for a while. His daughter got married and his son just left in March to move to Georgia. I'm 57 and now an empty nester.

Well, my dd#3 got married in October, third one married. I have only a son left and he is in the Navy so..... They should not be coming back after college any more so I was 50. But we had the school years for the last 3 years. But we still have a lot of their "stuff" here!!!

We were empty nesters for a few years and then one of our sons moved back home. It was hard to adjust both ways. But I absolutely do miss the time when my kids were little.

Which time? Seems they keep coming back! Youngest graduated from college 4 years ago, lived home for another year, then went to grad school. So, officially, that was when I was 59, DH was 60. My son keeps coming 'home', though. and he just turned 40. We keep hoping that the last time was really the last time!

I enjoy my time, but make sure I have kids in my life and home for vacations and fun.

I was 33 when both of my girls were on their own. Got an early start. LOL The biggest change waas that DH could finally walk around the house in his underwear........or without.
