Why do members hide their location

I don't understand hiding location. Could at least list state. It would make it so much easier in some cases to give informed answers.

it's each member's choice to make.

we should respect that.

My thoughts also. Can understand not giving specifics but general location? Each to their own and I respect that. Just like to understand....if I lived in a big metropolis I would probably have different opinion tho!

For some, it's a safety/privacy issue, for some, it's trying to keep a secret for "secret swaps".

I guess I don't understand why anonymity bothers people. It certainly wouldn't affect any quilting questions or answers for me.

Some people prefer not to have the whole world know everything about them. It's the same reason that some people use part of their real name in the username and others don't. It's scary what you can find out about a person with just a few bits of information.
