Wow that's pretty interesting! My hubby would go berserk if I started hanging stuff like that from the ceiling anywhere :)

Little extreme for me. I'd just put a table behind the other one and call it good! Don't think dh would appreciate door handles hanging from the ceiling. :O I guess whatever floats your boat. :)

I don't think it's extreme at all given the kind of quilting Leah does. Her work is outstanding and her quilting is also their family business now so modifications to her home are for more than just aesthetic reasons . If I had my own sewing room I'd likely give it a go. I tend to make larger quilts and much prefer quilting them myself.

I have never made a quilt so big that I felt this need. However, it appears it should work and would be very useful for those that make those very large, heavy quilts.

I think its great!! (she says looking at her ceiling!) I don't FMQ, but even doing straight stitch quilting on bed quilts, that would really work!!

There could be variations like hanging a rod a few feet above the table and draping over it......hmmmmm.

I don't care to put holes in my ceiling either, but it does give me an idea to try other things that are already in place.

Curtain rod.
The top of an open door.
Light fixture
Piece of tall furniture
