From what I have read off of some folks' photo blogs, not too many Singer 9W with the number plates starting with a W are around these days. Needlbar has only reported around 5 such machines(I have one, just not reported into Needlebar). Singer bought out Wheeler and Wilson, the remaining parts from the W&W were used in the Singer 9W. The only difference is the bed size, Singer wider and longer. The decals are Celtic Knot.

You can see my machine on my blog under September 2011 titled the 'Endless Knot".

These machines make a beautiful stitch! Have fun with your machine. And if you make a quilt with her, please post in "Quilts made using vintage machine". I would love to see your work!
I do not have a W in the serial numbers. They are only numbers. When I checked in the Singer web site it says that it was made in 1879. That it is a 15. How can I check this out????
I don't know why they call it a Singer 15. I'm still new to vintage machines history, but this is a Singer 9W. I can only think it's considered a Singer 15 because of the tension dial location is similar to that the Singer 15s.

But this isn't a Singer 15. It's a Singer 9W.
