I got china for my wedding 30+ years ago because that's we did back then. I can count on my hands the number on times I've used the china over the years. If I had it do over again, I wouldn't get it.

I don't have any china. no one gave us any when we married (we eloped) and we probably wouldn't use it anyway.

We do however have a "good" set of Christmas plates with snowflakes from Target. I think they were about $5 a plate. :D

I have a nice set my brother didn't want. All pieces. But, can't go in dishwasher so I use my all white dishes from Target for all occasions and I do like them.

Both my Mom and my grandmother (father's mom) had 2 sets of china. One set was used for Sundays, visitors or holidays. The other set was never used. In my entire memory, I can't remember either using the Franciscan Desert Rose set even though they had complete service of 12. Maybe afraid of breaking a piece? No clue. My mom is giving me both sets and I plan to use them every single day. If I break one, heck, I have 2 sets of 12, plus completers. No shortage and I can enjoy them as they never apparently did.

After a near death experience, I decided to use the 'good stuff,' china, fabric, art supplies, etc. every day.

haha, my childhood friend's DH was in the Navy and I bought a set of Noritake in 1972. Still love it for every day. http://<br /> http://www.replacemen...ote/N__SPR.htm

Have some, but don't use it any more.
