    I was watching news this morning and theymentioned this lady...she is 91 and learned to cook from a depression era mom. These are videos' on
    u-tube . Type in title at google. Its easy to find and there are soime great simple foods that are cheap, tasty and good for you :D

    i haven't watched it, but i hope her cooking is better than my granma's. she was the worst cook ever. and her cookies, well...let's not go there!

    lol...my gram drank the cream from the top of the glass milk bottles..right from the bottle :wink:

    and my mom, who would be 89, learned everything she knew from my granma. i'm surprised i survived my youth. :roll: :roll:

    Ruth- I used to do that when I was little, my Gram would let me.

    I also drank real buttermilk- now I wonder why I did those things.

    I learned a lot about gardening from my Gram, who lived to be 106. I think it was her pesticide free living that made her last so long.

    my mother skimmed the cream off the top of the glass milk bottles that we had delivered (we lived in the city - no cows in the apartment).

    then she whipped it for whipped cream and used it to top off a chocolate pudding pie. tell me, were the foods in the 50's gross or what?

    if it didn't have fat or sugar or cholesterol, it wasn't considered food.

    oh my, THE GOOD "OL" DAYS We grew up with fresh milk and none of us were fat then. Now it's just skim milk and still fat! :lol:
