Default Counted X-stitch Christmas Stocking - Took 4 years!

My daughter picked out this pattern about 10 years ago for her first child's Christmas stocking. I have made counted cross stitch stocking for the other grandkids, and I decided I'd getter get a jump on this one because the aida cloth was only 18 count, and also because it is a dark color. I started working on it while I was working the ER and had down time between patients. Then when I changed to Hospice I didn't have that fiddle time anymore. Well, to make a long project story short, I finally got it finished and sent off. Little Claire is 6 months, and she'd better enjoy this for the next 85 years! Yes, I've picked out the next one to do, for the next baby in a few years.

It's stunning! I used to do a lot of counted cross stitch before I discovered quilting, and I still get the itch every now and again. Working on the dark cloth can really make it difficult, but it looks like you handled it perfectly.

Absolutely beautiful. I made cross-stitch stockings for my kids and grandkids as they came along and they still use them. Yours is beautiful and will be cherished for a very long time.

Amazing. I use to do cross stitch also until my eyes couldn't see the holes anymore!! I had several kits and I finally donated them to the Senior Center...they will probably finish them a whole lot quicker than I could! LOL

That is gorgeous! Congrats on finishing it! I have that pattern about half finished...started sometime in the late 80's I think. But I've made 17 xs Christmas Stockings for my whole family. The last one was last year for my new Great Niece. It took me about 8 months to stitch it. Needless to say I didn't get much sewing done last year. All 17 were the series of stockings that were in the Cross Stitch and Country Crafts magazine in the 80's and 90's. Some are done more than once but I made sure to send the duplicates to different family members. This is last years...For Hannah.

These stockings are beautiful. I love counted crossstitch and can appreciate the time you put into making them.
