Just saying hi from Tennessee. I joined a week ago. I wrote a reply to Kathy's question about her camera batteries not lasting very long. I didn't realize that the question was asked back in Apr., so hopefully you have resolved that problem, but if not, you might want to read my reply.

I enjoy reading all the posts.

 Hi back to Catherine & Amma....Catherine, you're just next door......may even go into KY tomorrow just as a last fling with the grandkids before school starts.

AND Amma....you live in probably my favorite state ( other than TN, of course). I think Bellingham would be the ideal place for me. Not sure if it rains as much in B'ham as in Seattle, but I am one of the weird people who loves rain. The Hoh Rain Forest fits me like a comfortable old shoe. AND hopefully, Washington state is not experiencing 100 degree days. We've had 99 2 days in a row and weatherman is calling for 100+ the next 3 days, then a cold snap (in the mid 90s).

Hello and welcome Onthego! Glad you could join us. Where do you live in Tennessee? My husband and I vacationed there last year and this year. We absolutely love it there. I think if we had the chance to move there, we would. I don't see that happening, so I think TN will be our ideal vacation spot from now on out. LOL.

I was in Louisville a month ago and we took a trip to Nashville. It was my first time in Tennessee, it is beautiful there! My son and I were remarking how much that part of Tennessee and Kentucky look so much like SW Washington. I am planning another trip next spring and we plan on seeing more of your state this time! It has only been in the 70-80's, we had our 100 degree days the first part of July this year while I was gone, LOL. I think the humidity is why my son usually plans my trips there in the early summer and late fall. I would love to see your state in the fall, I bet the trees are just gorgeous!

We live west of Nashville near the TN River/KY Lake.

Where did you vacation in TN? And what part of WV do you live? We spent the night in Charleston a few yrs. back and it was raining so hard, we didn't go out of the motel once we checked in. I would love to see more of your beautiful state.

We have passed through Martinsburg on I-81 and once drove up to Bluefield or Princeton for lunch. That was a day trip from NC Mtns. I want to go sometime for a whole week to explore. I have a friend who was originally from WV & when her family was much younger, they would go up on weekends to whitewater raft. Can't remember what part.

Yes, the trees are gorgeous in the fall...usually around mid-Oct. We have such a long, narrow state that you'll think you've been in 3 different states if you drive it from east to west or vice versa. Memphis is on the MS River, lots of flat land and farms west of the TN River. Middle TN has rolling hills and the mountains are in East TN. It takes a whole day to drive across the state in the east/west direction, too.

You mentioned SW WA.....we drove from Clarkston to Walla Walla in 1999.....then followed the Columbia River into Portland, OR. I bought local, fresh asparagus in (or near) Walla Walla and cooked it in a hot pot at the motel that night....at least I cooked what I hadn't already eaten raw.

I remember how green the area was and the contour of the hills and the little structures in the fields that we later learned were bee stations. I'll bet the Wenatchee area is pretty when the apple trees are in bloom.

You'll have to come back to TN in the fall during leaf peeping season.
