Thought everyone should know that fact after all these years. But there is one brand that doesn't bow and it is Martelli. You might want to try one.

Like everyone else I have purchased one of these and luckily have always stored flat - purely by accident. However I have also found that any small mat (not the rotating kind) is handy to use - you can honestly turn those with out your pieces moving just as easily and much cheaper.
