I could see this with a light colored border, then medium, then darkest. It would give this absolutely beautiful masterpiece depth and illusion all at the same time but this is yours.

I agree with jtquilts, who agrees with irishrose.
I would also say that I wouldn't blame you if you want to hire to have the border(s) sewn on the quilt. Be sure to post pictures when it is finished.

That is one of the most spectacular quilts I have seen on the board. It is wonderful with all thcolors and the do pop against the white. Great work.

Oh yes, this really is a OMG quilt!!!! How did you have the courage to even start with all those little fiddly bits/blocks, I think your work is just absolutly "fantabulous"!!! Who will be the lucky receiver of this quilt??? I would keep it for myself if I ever made one like this - which I don't think I will - but just to remind me that at some time in my life I must have had a brain-freeze Thanks for sharing!!!

I love the colors and am in awe of your accomplishment too! I think borders would help hold it together, literally. Not sure they are needed from a design standpoint, but they would keep it from stretching along the edges. There is so much color here, it would be hard to pick just one, two, or three!
Can't wait to see the finished, so don't forget to post it!

Absolutely amazing! I think this quilt screams "solid borders" only. Just do one at a time and add what looks good to you.
I would think after all the precise piecing, that sewing a border strip on would be a walk in the park for you!!
