Question Pic of oil pan that I am trying to get old adhesive and pad remnants off of...

Hi again all,
Heres a couple of close up pics of the pan to my "new" featherweight that I am trying to get the "yuk" off of it to put a new oil pan pad in. Posting pics to give a better idea of what my prior post is about...I removed the original wool pad, which at the time appeared appeared "stuck" in areas to the pan. In the pics you can see where fibers from the old pad are still "stuck" in with the adhesive I am trying to remove. After much research I tried (not all at once ) kerosene, WD 40, Goo Gone as well as plain water with just a tad of dish soap (thoroughly rinsed and dried it after) to get this glue/adhesive off...Nothing is working...it still has that "rancid oil smell". I know I am putting a new oil pad on, but wanted to maintain the integrity of the surface if possible, the lil scratches around where the screw hole is were there when I took the pan off ....Thanks in advance all!
Regards,
K
PS I have Lupus, and "smells" can really get to me, this one sure is...but boy is she a beautiful machine who is worthy of a nice spruce up!

Lots of work. I'd probably just replace the oil pan. But that's just me.

Try lighter fluid...it's great for adhesives.

I tried Goo Gone. Haven't tried lighter fluid. After talking with dh, May just strip pad side of pan, repaint that side, then put new pad on. The bottom side of the pan is pristine, so that's probably what I will do.
Thanks!

This tip would still be a lot of work but it's worked on smaller spots. I smear peanut butter on the spots and allow it to sit for a day or two. The oil in the peanut butter breaks down the glue. The ground peanuts give a bit of grit to help remove the residue.

You might try denatured alcohol, or acetone. These are nasty solvents that should be used out doors and probably by your DH. If that wouldn't do it, I would strip it and repaint it.

Spray it well with WD40, let it sit awhile, scrape at it, and do it all over again. Goo Gone doesn't always work, but with patience WD40 will do the job. Or ask DH if he has any Brake Cleaner

If you don't want to strip the pan, just seal over the area with polyurethane (brush or spray) and then glue in the new pad (maybe using Command strip adhesive strips) for easy future removal.
