    Default vegetarian fish

There have been a few times in my life when I tried to go vegetarian. It never lasted long (maybe a year at most--each time). But during those times, it never ceased to amaze me that I would be asked if I ate fish. My answer was always "I didn't know fish was a vegetable". I recently bought some 5" charm squares of veggie/fruit fabric and cut them down to 3.5" squares. While I will never consider fish to be a vegetable in the food category, I just knew that I had to make a fish block with the scraps from those 5" veggie/fruit squares. So here's a pic of my...ahem...vegetarian fish block.

How cute is that? My friend made a 'vegetable' picnic quilt - made circles of the veggies and put on plain background squares of browns, beiges and greens (like veggies in the fields) -- it turned out wonderfully, intermixed with large red & white checked fabric and some plain red.
