Question Wood floors or carpet in your sewing room?

Hi Everybody,
I was wondering what everyone preferred in their sewing room.
Do you have hard floor or carpet in your sewing room?
Which do you prefer and why?

I have a carpet on the wood floor and I may take it up.

Thank you,
McDarla

I don't have wood floors - I have cheap vinyl tiles and I love them. I chose them over wood at this time since my sewing room is also my craft room where I occasionally paint, spray dyes on fabric, etc., so wanted something that could be easily cleaned and which would look artsy even if I couldn't get all the paint and stuff cleaned up. and the best thing is, it's easy to replace and/or cover the whole thing later if I want a better surface (like for resale). Not sure why anyone would want carpeting, especially wall to wall carpeting in a sewing room - too much chance of losing pins then later finding them with one's foot...

Makes sense Kate.
I have a wood floor under the carpet... which is pretty much a large area rug. I think I will remove it , but since I am in Maine, the temptation is to keep it only to be warmer in the room. So many reasons tell me to remove it

I have two rooms as my sewing room. One is ceramic tile and one has carpet. I love the ceramic tile. Carpet is too time consuming to keep clean. It's the only room in the house with carpet. It is brand new so we kept it. I have the gel mats on the ceramic tile floor which are so nice to stand on to press and cut.

Wood. I have wood everywhere except the bathroom. They have tile. I love the wood floors and have never regretted getting rid of the carpet.

We had all the carpet in our house removed about 7 years ago and replaced with laminate flooring. Would not go back to carpet for anything - which is actually quite nasty after several years of use - no matter how many times it may be cleaned.

BellaBoo, where do you get the gel mats?

I have linoleum / vinyl flooring.
It must have been a man who decided it would be a good idea to cover floors with carpet that can't be removed to be cleaned.
