I was having a private flute lesson (something only a very small school like mine could offer) and the music teacher asked if I knew why the flag was at half-staff... left quite an impression on a 9 year old and still makes me so sad even today...

I was a junior in high school typing class. They sent us home and we watched all the happenings all weekend. My mother was sewing in the basement in front of the TV and I was in the kitchen at the top of the stairs when I heard her shouting "Watch him, watch him!!" She saw Ruby shoot Oswald on live TV. Many, many things changed that day.

I was a freshman in high school. We were in an assembly to listen to the Fort Monmouth (army base at the time) band. The band stopped playing to announce the assassination of the President. We were all shocked. I believe that the band played something, maybe "taps", as we left the auditorium, but honestly don't remember.
That was one of those historical memories that burns itself into your mind. I pray that our descendants never have to go through it.
