Default SMS Modern Tree Skirt top done and ready to be quilted..

My guild is decorating a Christmas tree to be displayed at the local library. I have been making some paper pieced ornaments but also committed myself to making the tree skirt.
I just finished piecing the skirt...
The pattern for the tree skirt is on Sew Mama Sew's blog here....

I'm debating quilting it first then binding it orrrrrrr cut the center hole and back slit, sewing right sides/batting together then turning it pillowcase style and then quilting it so I don't have to do binding for it... There's something to be said about not doing binding especially for something that will get very little use...

What do you think? Quilt then bind or sew/turn/quilt no binding...?

Nice job on that, it's kind of funky looking! I'd add batting and backing & turn it and then do some interesting quilting. I have made one with binding, and it is ALOT of binding going up into the slit & around the center (bias binding for the circle part)

I LIKE it, I think I'd do the turn then quilt method since it's not huge, add ties to the back and it would certainly go faster and we all need faster this time of year!!!!

I am never happy with my results with the pillowcase method. I would rather quilt and do binding OR leave the backing extra big and fold it to the front for the binding.

As for me one who literally hates with a passion to do hand sewing - which I always do when I bind something, I would pillowcase it and ad NO binding- I am always for the easy way out. lol. Looks great!

Depending on the time you have I would quilt and bind. Just like that look over the pillowcase method.

Given your design, I think just seaming the center area and then bringing backing around to the front on the outer edges would be in character with the style of your beautiful tree skirt.

Great skirt - so different. I like the idea several had of bringing the backing from the back for the binding.
