Default One more thing to consider

When I started FMQ today the tread broke whenever I moved the fabric backward. I did all the trouble shooting I could think of, changed my needle 4 times, changed the bobbin case, changed the needle plate from single hole to wide, tried every thread in my stash, tried a tread lubrication, messed with the tension, went slow, went fast, said bad words - I tried every piece of advise I have read on this board - which is a lot! Finally I tried changing the darning foot from open toed to closed. That was the culprit. I wonder if my open toed foot was bent, and when I moved the fabric backward it put just enough tension on the foot to cut the thread. So I am sharing my experience, in hopes that some day when one of you is running through every trouble shooting piece of advice you have received, you have one more to add to your arsenal.

i just red in a quilting magazine that different FMQ style feet are suited to different needs and work for different situations and how many don't think to just change to a different style of foot
