    Default First Time Using Flannel

I have read all of the horror stories about flannel. Granddaughter has found a fabric on line for her quilt back. Low and behold, it is flannel. I decided, oh well, time to give it a try. The fabric is Timeless Treasures Flannel. We just received it today. I washed and dried twice. There was not as much lint in dryer as I had expected from posts from others. There was very litlle fraying and not much shrinkage. The flannel did not pill and is beautiful. I am anxioux to get working with it.

Baste well when you sandwich the quilt because flannel is stretchier than regular cotton. Have fun!

Don't believe all the horror stories! Flannel is my favorite fabric, and I love working with it. Enjoy!

That is good flannel. You should not have any problems. It makes for a heavy quilt though.

The only time I had trouble with flannel was when I used some cheap stuff and it shrank a lot – from 42" wof to about 38" – too much to use as a backing as I had intended. That was a bummer. Oh, and the cheaper stuff tends to pill. But the good quality flannel is wonderful to sew with!

There are a lot of different qualities of flannel. Sound to me like you got a good quality flannel and you shouldn't have any problems using it.

I ordered from Beverly Fabrics at bevelys.com. Their turn around was fast and the cuts were very generous. I had never ordered from them before, but this was the color and print that my grand daughter loved. I am loving it now too.
