I have one on the way, that kind of fills in the chronological gap between my other New Homes, sort of an end of an era.What I wanted to find, was the hinged motor, those decals at thebase of the pillar, not wanting one of those little "turtle-back" motors whose tire is always pressing against the balance wheel.

I like it, I bought one yesterday at one of my favorite thrifts for ten dollars. Her decals are good but she is a dirty mess. No top, and the bottom was held together with packing tape. Do you know what the large double oval decals portray?

yeah $10 is probably the right price to pay for one! S&H got me again! I'm not sure but I think was for commemorating an exhibition in France.

That's a nice machine. I've seen a bunch of them on GW auctions, but never went for one.

I have a FREE SEWING MACHINE Model CE that has the turtle back motor. I fixed the problem of the drive wheel being in constant contact with the hand wheel by taking it off and putting it in the accessories box. Only takes a couple seconds to slip it on the shaft and tighten the set screw.

good solution. I have a similar situation where i turned it around and found put a short dection of water pump hose between motor and wheel. i usually run it on the hose, quiter and softer less virstion

what needles does yours use?

They are really short needles. My manual says only needles that are made for this machine will fit it. Probably the dreaded 206X13.
I haven't cleaned either machine yet. Won't get to them until the fall.

It uses the CC, 1221, or40F1 needle. It does not use the 206x13 even though there are several needle charts that list it as a replacement (206x13 has the wrong timing length). The needle-bar can be raised by 1.8mm to allow you to use a 15x1 needle.
