Default Wild Animals for Granddaughter

Well, here is the finished quilt that I made for my granddaughter's bridel shower. Several months ago I had a customer's quilt here made with the same center panel, when my granddaughter saw it and made the remark "what a beautiful" quilt I wondered if I could find the panel and make her one. When Kay (who is the owner of the "beautiful" quilt came and picked her quilt up I was telling her how much my granddaughter admired the quilt. Kay said she would be on the look out for the panel as she travels to a lot more quilt shops than I do. The next time Kay came by she surprised me with the panel!! A few days shopping at Keepsake Quilting put together enough 2 1/2 inch strips to get me started. My granddaughter and her husband picked out brown towels and grey sheets for their master bath/bedroom making the quilt fit right in with their colors. I did not follow a pattern and this quilt is not near as lovely as Kay's, but granddaughter is happy. I cut the 2 1/2 inch strips into 7 inch lengths, placed a gold border around the panel, then a black border to bring it to the size needed to make my strips work. I used Hobbs Black 80/20 batting and custom quilted it by outlining the animals and trees, stitching grass, etc. I just did a serpentine stitch over the pieced seams

It's beautiful! Very striking. Thank you for sharing your use of a panel. I can't always see the vision using a panel. I love what you did!
