Default Do you use a Serge Protector on your machine?

I have always used surge protectors on my computers. But for some reason it never occurred to me to use one on my Juki that costs as much as the computers! As a huge thunderstorm with lots of lightening is rolling through my area this morning and I am unplugging expensive electronics, I wonder if I am the only one to overlook protecting my machine with a surge protector?

I use on with my Featherweight to protect it, also because everything is older...so I figure the more precautions the better. My 70's Kenmore, I'm not as concerned about so I haven't bothered to move the surge protector around haha.

I'm no electrician, so I can't comment on how worthwhile using one is but I'd say if you have one lying around, go for it.

Yep, I use one on my machine. I also have one that I have a floor lamp and my iron plugged in to it. This one is located by the entrance to my area. I switch it off when I am leaving the room so I know my iron is off. If the lamp is on, the iron is on. Keeps me from forgetting to turn off my iron when I leave my room.

Absolutely. Today's sewing machines are very expensive. I want that investment protected.

Oh yes, for sure. I have a computerized Bernina and don't want to have to replace it. However, I use it for other machines. If I know a thunderstorm is moving through, we unplug everything, including surge protectors.

That's it. I'm buying a couple on the way home from work today. One for my Janome 6600 and one for the new Baby Lock Tiara that's coming next week. That's for the suggestion.

I have had surge protectors on my machines since I got my computerized machine. My machine is a lot more expensive than my computer. I have gotten into the habit of unplugging that machine when not in use, you never know when lightening will show up in the area.

Oh yeah. Though for my sewing machines and iron I have the smaller insured type sergers. I take one even for sew-ins or retreats.
