    Default thread weight

What weight of thread should I use on denim quilts? My local quilt store said to use an all purpose one. The first one will be the circle one with flannel in the center then ragged. I am afraid that will be a lot of pulling and tugging on seams. Am I over thinking this? Any suggestions appreciated.

If you are wanting to keep in theme with the jeans, use jeans thread.

I think a 50wt 3-ply thread would be fine (which would meet the criteria of an all purpose thread). If you read through tutorials for this kind of quilt, you will find that none of them specify using anything special in the way of thread.

Visit Superior Threads website... You can learn a lot about thread and the needles to use with the thread--it is a very good resource to have--they have free charts you can print explaining the different sizes/weights/types of threads and needles

I agree. LQS are usually up to date with the latest information about quilting trends.

I used Jean thread for top stitching. But it had to use 5-6 spools.

She may be talking about Jeans Stitch thread from YLI: http://www.redrockthreads.com/yli-th...?gclid=CjkKJan in VAEQjwzv-cBRD_oY2PouKVvMIBEiQAKuGNCymrnaROPWc4RK85_-muXqxlsSY1uh47P-MYDrR0uwfw_wcB
