Who says I can't sew yet? Making one of my Grandsons help, I finished cutting the material for the quilt I was making when I cut my finger.

I'll bet he will be bugging you to try out the machine before this project is over. Let him try. Who knows he may be the next great quilter and if he isn't he will at least be a man who isn't scare of trying to fix a hem. It's a win win deal.

I believe that is just practice for when he marries a quilter LOL Don't tell him that he may still be at the age when girls have cooties.

You just have to tell him that a sewing machine is just like any tool. I had my college boyfriend sew together a large theatrical backdrop using 120" wide muslin and he did an excellent job. It is a power tool that has a needle instead of a blade. Tell him about tailors, they use DSM in their line of work. Nothing sissy about sewing.

How's the cut? Hope it wasn't too bad. Could mention all the great male fashion designers, artists, chefs, and such who started by helping. Grandmas are great for getting kids to experience lots of different things. Maybe he'll become another Kaffe Fasett( Can't remember how to spell his name.)

95% of the sewing machines I sell are to guys. They all want lessons. They all are trying to use a sewing machine to start a business. Guys who WANT to learn to sew learn very quickly.

My younger son made his quilt when he was 11. I cried the day he took it to college with him.
