Me too, -- I just have to find the heat resistant stuff that I think I packed when I came east for the summer. I think it is the perfect way to use those orphan squares.

Haven't figure that out yet. Might be some small mini quilts.

This year, I am making quilts for everyone on my list. There are 2 king size, several queen size, some twin, and throws. I started on the quilts in January. I'll probably finish on Christmas Eve. This afternoon, I started a Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer quilt for a 6 year old foster child. Making that quilt is such fun! Oops! I just noticed that you said small items. Sorry! Last year, I made quilted tote bags for everyone. Does that count?

I'm making Christmas quilts or wallhangings for a few special people. The others are getting potholders or wine coasters.

Thinking of aprons and totes. Quilts for a few special ones.

I made some embroidered casserole totes from placemats. I'm also making some bath mats/throw rugs from towels and scraps. Both are quick projects.

I'm going to make some of these pleated Christmas tree blocks for me, but you could make some cute gifts with it. I made one last year and framed it for dd. I want to make a couple for a pillow cover and some for a wall hanging.
