Default Kenmore 158.18023 Super High Shank Sewing Machine

Here are pics of my "NEW" Kenmore 158.18023 Super High Shank Sewing Machine that came in a cabinet. I paid $35 for it. The original manual was with it. When I say, "NEW," I am not exaggerating. Even the gold and black "Passed Inspection" sticker is still on the hand wheel. The pic showing the inside of the top looks like it isn't clean, but it is. That's just the way the metal photographed. Whomever the previous owner of this machine was must have never used it. Before doing much sewing on it, I asked my DH to go through it, clean, service and oil it. When he opened it up, he called me downstairs to show me how immaculately clean it is. I purchased cams and other attachments for it on eBay and a dear, wonderful online friend sent me an extra cam that I didn't, have plus the buttonhole attachment and she would not take a dime for either. Everyone needs friends like that!! Am I blessed!! I am hoping to purchase a super high shank walking foot for it, in case anyone has an extra to sell.

When I tried to change out the presser foot for another, we discovered that it was an impossible task because we could not get it off. Again, my friend to the rescue! She sent me a little video showing that, in addition to releasing the presser foot lever, I need to raise the take-up lever by hand higher than just lifting it. I tried it this morning and it worked perfectly!

I see that the pics are sideways or upside down. If anyone can tell me how to fix that problem, I would appreciate it, as well as how to delete duplicate photos.

Here's your walking foot, but it looks like it will cost you more than your bargain machine: http://www.shop.sew-classic.com/Kenm...screw-RWA8.htm

Was the pic taken on a phone? Posted from one? The easiest way to fix it is to open pic on a photo program on your computer and then select "rotate image" and then save. The exact way to do it varies by program. Image viewers usually have a rotate symbol when you're clicking through a roll and then ask if you want to save changes when you close.

The double photo's aren't your fault. The techies are working on the problem.

These 18023s are such great machines. I can no longer experience Kenmores in the same way because I'm so used to their quality. I'm envious.

I've been double photos also but I've been able to fix it by editing the post and deleting the original image I uploaded. It looks like there isn't any photo but it does leave the photo as an attachment.

Nice looking machine! Kenmores are slowing winning me over with their excellent performance. Congrats!

I bought the walking foot for my 158 super high shank and i don't think it works well. It looks like it sits a little crooked. I can't get it to sit straight no matter what I do.

I too have the 158.18023 Kenmore model. It is a workhorse. I use it for just about everything which is mostly quilting and sewing my motorcycle ministry patches onto our leather vests. It travels well, (if my husband carriers it as it is !!)

I have been trying to find a straight stitch needle plate and have not have any luck, not even sure if there is one available? would anyone know?
