    Default Janome Horizon 8900

Has anyone had trouble with the Janome 8900 tearing thread and skipping stitches.
I had it in the shop 3 times, they tell me nothing is wrong, just have to use the right needle. First it was needle # 18 (!) now it is needle # 12-14, and higher for quilting, I have never changed needles for quilting, neither have the members in my club that I asked. Any suggestions, ot experience with this is greatly appreciated. Thank you

There have been a couple of threads about this. The solution seems to be the brand of needle. Here is a link to one of the recent threads:

On my 8200 (same as 8900 but with fewer stitches) I use a topstitch needle for FMQ and I don't have a problem. Also my machine won't FMQ correctly without using the single hole throat plate. It may be that you might be moving the fabric too quickly. I too use organ needles all the time and they are great.
