add a quarter ruler

add a quarter ruler
I need a 10 1/4 inch square. I have a 10 inch and wondering if anyone has used the add a quarter ruler. They are not expensive so not a big loss if I don't like it but won't buy it if you all advise it isn't worth it. My eyes are getting bad and most rulers are hard for me to see the lines so thought this would be perfect.
Thanks,
Evelyn

What a great idea! I had never thought of doing that. I just pulled out my Add-A-Quarter ruler and laid it on a different ruler, and it worked great! I will remember this and use it in the future when I can. Thank you for your great idea. And, yes, it works just fine.

I use my add a quarter ruler all the time for paper piecing and love it! If you place the lip against your ruler it will add the quarter, however it will not reach the fabric, which may or may not effect cutting. I would line my fabric up on the lines of my cutting mat, then line my ruler up so the 3/4" mark lines up on the second inch line, which would put the edge at the 10 1/4" place.

I use mine to make diagonal lines when making joins in binding. I put sandpaper dots on under side to keep it from slipping. I just started using it this way, because I just thought to use it. Works really well for the smaller areas I need.
