Be warned, fabric or dryer lint for birds is not helping them. Fabric keeps the nests wet and damp. A few threads won't hurt but not a lot.

This is a neat idea if you have the time. The 'twine' can be used to make fabric bowls or mats.

I have used selvedge trimming to tie up plants outside.

I use them to make twine and use the twine to wrap packages. Never need ribbon on colored paper and eveything is wraped in white.

check this out http://www.craftsy.com/blog/2013/04/...with-selvages/ about the middle of the page is a quilt block she made. Also, I saw some stuffed animals made with the selvages. They were really cute. Google it and a whole lot of ideas come up.

I love the selvedges with the writing on them I cut a vest pattern out of muslin string piece the selvedges along wih some narrow colorful strips and make neat colorful vest, line then get creative finish with binding or turn just have fun

I know people that save everything including thread. Several have the Babylock embellisher and do all kinds of crazy things. I give my scraps to a group to stuff pet beds
