Talking Happy Grammy Moment

DGD wanted to make a "quilt Square" for a craft class at her local fair. So we went up to my sewing room and looked through my precuts and discussed what she could do - she's just coming 8. Since she has been exposed to hand sewing before in 4-H she wanted to sew no do a paper craft.
We played with some squares then decided it would be best to make a HST block since it would be one seam. I cut out the triangles and pined them and marked a seam line for her. Sent her home with needle, thread, pin container and small scissors. Grammy will be available to consult during the week if we need to Skype.
Best part - I had just cleaned an straightened my room so I could find everything and we had room to work!

Happy for you! Enjoy your grands.... mine all have 4 legs and aren't into stitching, although they do love quilts

The best of times! DGD (6 years old) and I are working on a wall hanging. We do a little bit more whenever we get together. Joy!

I did some quilting with nephews. They drew their quilt design. I did so much but at every stage they had to have a go. They enjoyed the sewing machine sections best and crawling on the floor making a sandwich. They also did some of the quilting.

Grand children are such a blessing. My DGD is 10 and she is starting to quilt with me. I love it!

GD#2 made a quilt at age 9 and donated it to the psych ward at our local hospital. We were proud of her efforts.

You are so lucky to have your grands close by. Mine are far away and so we've never had the opportunity to sew together although they are pretty good about sending their requests to me. Right now I am working on a brown trout costume for Halloween! Thank God for imaginations and the mail!
