Hey. I have a new quilt ready to be quilted (that sounds redundant :-) ). It's a Wizard of Oz quilt, pattern from Quilting Treasures. In the picture, you can see some of the backing, but the poppies are the end of the quilt top :)

So my question is what should I quilt on this? I'll be working on my Flynn Quilt Frame, so I can only work in 4" (or so) rows at any given time. And what color thread??

Okay, I am assuming that you will be machine quilting this, yes? Either way, perhaps a swirly pattern (like near the center of where the YBR begins in Munchkinland in the movie) would work .... in that case I would quilt in yellow.

Maybe apples ... I would do those in red.

Perhaps brooms for the WWo/tW ... black or grey.

How about an hourglass and/or crystal ball? I'd do in black or grey also.

Why not houses? Quilt in grey.

I think I'd select the houses, since the "moral" of the story is "there's no place like home....."

Can you do sparkly red slippers on the border? That would be cool.

I like those suggestions. and they would be helpful in getting me to practice different shapes. And, yes, machine quilting. I need this done next month and with the way I do hand work, I'd be done by next year :D

Only thing that concerns me is changing thread a lot. I try to keep that as minimal as possible to avoid threads coming loose after the quilt is done... don't know how realistic that fear is, but starting and stopping new threads makes me worry about it

That is a beautiful quilt. Don't let my SIL see it.
