Default Karen stone's clam session quilt

I have tried for months to get a response from Karen Stone.....guess she is quilting.....I have tried To find a workshop where she is doing her clam session quilt. If you have taken her class, can you tell me what size are the clamshells and size of the quilt?

I would love to purchase her pattern....looks to be PP......but she doesn't seĺl this one...guess only in a class.
Any help would be appreciated.

I don't know of that one, sorry. Where did you see it? Can you check back there? Good luck.

I didn't have any better luck than you

You might call Electric Quilt and see if the pattern is in the Karen Stone CD they did.

I took her class years ago and remember her demonstrating the clam shells, it was in her book. I didn't pay close attention and didn't write her technique down. Maybe the book is on Amazon.

That particular quilt is an award-winning original. It is so detailed that I doubt it would ever be patterned. It's more likely that her classes teach you the techniques, and provide a basic clam shell pattern. Here's a picture of the quilt - http://www.sewingandbeyond.com/weblo...ttachment/781/

You are right, that is a different quilt entirely from what I remember. Must be a newer one. Definitely paper pieced.

I don't know the quilt you are referencing. However, the one posted looks like a combination of clamshell techniques and New York Beauty techniques. I have found lots of tutorials on how to pp clamshells by hand, but not many places to find the actual clamshell pattern online for free. I have seen it on Inklingo as a pattern to buy and print on fabric or paper and at PaperPieces to buy the actual papers though.

It is on my bucket list along with apple core.

The quilt of hers that is pictured above is stunning. I've watched Karen stand in my shop and pull fabrics for a quilt, but never could see her rhyme or reason for them; they were mostly fat quarters, too, tons of them. Her color sense is just extraordinary! Does she still live in the Dallas area, does anyone know?
