My niece asked that I make a table runner with her father-in-law's high school and college. She wants both of them on one runner. Well, I have completed the two 14" x 60" runners. Now, is it possible for me to put batting and put a very thin cloth on the back of each of them and then sew them together back to back to make one runner? I planned to use warm and natural and a thin white cotton on each and machine quilt each of them. And then sew them together and bind them. Does this seem possible? Here are the two toppers and I tried to make them exactly in size, sashing, and squares so that they are exactly the same. Here are the two.....please give me your best help you can.

Very pretty runners. Since both are same size I would be tempted to use the birthing method.

Great runners! If you are using 80/20 batt, it is quite thin. I might quilt them with just the batt behind each one. The batt is quite stable and then you could trim if necessary, put them together and bind the edge. I would put a bit of stitching after they are together, maybe grey thread on both sides of the center rectangles on the the orange and yellow strips to keep them together.

I made a double sided wall hanging by using thin bat (thermore lite) and soft netting as the backing. Once they were both quilted I put a layer of Misty Fuse between them and steamed it as I ironed so they fused together. They were then bound and entered into a show just for fun. Points were taken off because they couldn't see the back of the stitches for judging. It was still fun to do.

I make two sided runners with one layer of batting between and then cross hatch quilting them together as is. Bind them in white.

There is also available an iron on very thin fleece, good for placemats-table runners..use on both, then quilt and bind together?..

I'd make it a reversible table runner. Instead of batting, I use flannel (that's been preshrunk).. that way if a person sets anything on it, it will be level.
