Default And pillowcases complete the grandgirls' Christmas gifts....

I adore these fabrics. Boy--pillowcases take a lot of fabric... cutting it 45" long can be tricky. And even for the 2" trim and 9" border, I'd want them to be 45" without having to piece it. So all pieces require 45" in length.
Two here--one's underneath.

Those are very pretty!

I was shocked at just how much material a pillowcase really took (new sewer here, have been at it less than a year). I've made some flannel ones I love, they're just a touch smaller than a standard pillowcase, but they fit my pillows fine, so I haven't worried about it. So far I've used flannel remnants from the JAF remnant bin (I LOVE their remnant bin here, I check it out every trip I make). Their flannel remnants are often right at one yard, so they work well.

I haven't made any for several years, but I thought it was only about a yard x wof for body and a few inches X wof for bands? But that's for standard size, are yours King?

Those are beauties. I made some for a friend's granddaughters using a winter print...hubs decided he liked them! Next time I'll use pints like you did.
I'm guessing you are making these for king size pillows. Jenny from Missouri Star on Youtube measures the main body at 27inches, the cuff at 9 inches with a 2 1/2 inch flange. My problem is finding fabric at 45 inches wide...much of it is now about 42 inches and taking off the selvedge makes it even less. Tough to get "fat" pillows to fit.
Anyway, those grands will think these are the best ever and they'll get tons of use. :-)
