    Default Erika's paint box

I made this almost king-sized quilt for my son and his wife. (They have a California King-sized bed!) I based it on MSQC's Illusion pattern, but I used the entire 10" blocks of color rather than cutting them in half. Then to make the quilt even larger, I decided to add a large shadow strip like a border to make the whole thing look like it was floating. I arranged all 42 squares in the order of the spectrum of light that is in a rainbow starting with the red in the upper left corner and going diagonally to the bottom right, ending with violet. As I was working on it, the squares began to remind me of water color bricks in a paint box...hence the name, Erika's Paint Box. Erika is my daughter in law and she is an elementary art teacher. Both she, and my son love it!

That's a fine gift. The larger sized blocks and the border you selected make this a really special quilt.
