Out of time, or worn hook.

Is the needle facing the right way? I did this with my featherweight and had inadvertently put needle in wrong way round.

Are you sure the correct bobbin is in? Bobbins can look very similar from one machine to another.

The first thing to check is that the needle is pushed all the way up and the flat side is towards the back. If the needle is in correctly, then your timing is off.

You don't have to be perfect but when I spent a lot of money on a quilt I want it to look nice so no matter what I always do my best. I don't necessarily think it makes me a perfectionist. It does take me longer to do quilts but at the end I am happy with them. If I have a lot of mistakes I know for me I will never be happy with it and very reluctant to give it away as well, but that's just me.

Are you using singer needle. Seems I heard they were a tad longer. When I searched info people said the singers didn't like certain brand needles. Hope you have a manual so you can check what is recommended. Good luck.
