Default Opinions please, color triad ?

More pictures of my Leader Ender Challenge.

Original Thread:

Leader Ender Challenge

Playing with my color wheel and was wondering what everyone thinks of this. I am thinking about changing the lightest strip out for the red/ orange for more texture and color. Yes or no, why?

1. original plan

2. Experiment on a triad color arrangement

I am really torn between these two, I like them both.

Thanks for any input you good people give.

For me, the orange wouldn't work. It goes too far into the warm range.

I also prefer the first one -
because all the fabrics have some "blue" in them - and the prints/colors seem compatible with each other to me. The light color also puts some definition and the "rails" back into the piece. It gives my eyes a bit of a path to follow while looking at it.

Why I don't like the second one as much - the changed out fabric is the only one that has any "yellow" in it - and feels "jarring" to me. It also seems to "blur" everything into one big mish-mash. All the fabrics read as "medium" to me except for the dark bluish-red squares.

(You did ask for opinions - - - - )

The important opinion is yours -

Opinions are a good thing in my book. Helps us to learn and evaluate our work. I appreciate them all. Thanks Bear.

I prefer the first one, but I think it has more to do with tone than colour. The orange in the second one is a medium tone, like most of the other fabrics. The first one looks more visually distinct and crisp, because the lighter fabric gives more definition. The second seems muddied in comparison.

I would be interested in seeing a light orange; it might give you the colour triad, while still having the tone differences that I appreciate in the first example.

I agree with Jennifer. While I prefer the first one, it has more to do with the fact that the first one is lighter and provides contrast. Also, the second one the print is too busy and it does seem to make the whole design a muddle. I'd like to see a different fabric there.

The first one is a safe color way. I'd like to see a different fabric in the second one with more excitement.

I prefer the first one. The second one doesn't provide enough contrast in value or print size. The print texture looks the same size as the other prints.

If your wanting to "pop" it w/ a cheddar I would look for a fabric print like the one in the first pic, light background w/ cheddar. I agree w/ the others I like the first one better and they have already posted my reasons.

That was the same thing that I was thinking.
