Default Bookcase quilt with Minky backing

I just completed this bookcase quilt for my daughter who is an avid reader. She requested the Minky backing which had me intimidated at first. It turned out to be easier than I anticipated and I really like the end result The only issue is the ruffled edges - which didn't occur until I put on the binding. If anyone has an idea of how to minimize the ruffles at this point, I would greatly appreciate your advice.

Super book shelf quilt! The waving is probably because the edge stretched when you put on the binding. I usually iron my quilt edge after quilting and use a large stitch and my walking foot around the perimeter of my quilt before adding binding. This lets me see if it is laying flat with the stitching and if not I can pull the bottom thread a bit before adding the binding. The stay stitching also prevents me from stretching the quilt edge when I sew on the binding, you also want to make sure you are just laying the binding along the quilt as you stitch neither stretching it or putting too much before the needle.
With that being said, the only way to fix the edge is to remove the binding and try again but with the Minky back, it may not be any better the second time.

That's not just a normal bookcase quilt!! That's a wow! How under the sun did you do all the curved tops and bottoms of each book?

That's an awesome quilt I wanted to make one for my sister but she doesn't do wall hangings. Someday I will find someone that is an avid reader that I can make one for.

Best bookcase quilt I have seen. Love all the details and the colors are so warm and cozy, just like an old library.

That's the most realistic-looking bookshelf quilt I've seen! Fabulous job.

I agree! My daughter would love this too as she is an avid reader of books. I too would like to know how you achieved those curved tops and bottoms of the books. They really make it look realistic.
