Default Cautionary tale about buy/sell on FB

I thought I would post this as a safety reminder to be careful about using Facebook:

Makes one very apprehensive. I have bought things on Craigslist where they wanted to meet me ( a little old lady ) in a fast food parking lot. I'm using eBay and the Post Office.

The same theory goes for vacations- if announced everyone knows you won't be home!

I always have to remind DH not to broadcast when we're on vacation out to the world on FB. He's a photographer so always wants to instantly upload vacation photos while we're still out of town or out of state. I'm paranoid about that kind of stuff, even though we have a house sitter, dogs, and a security system watching the house for us.

These days you can't be too careful. I use both ebay and craigslist to sell things but I never give out my name or address unless an item is too big to transport and only then will I give my address to a confirmed buyer and they can only come when my husband is home. Even though I have a large dog he isn't a protector. He would probably lick them to death.

Our local police allow people to meet (for sales or exchanges), in their lobby or parking lot, so we don't have to give our home address out. They are a great bunch we have here.
