Default Help! Minkie challenges

My DD's friend wants me to make a sensory pillow. She bought MINKIE. (I have never used it). I decided to make the pillows out of cotton and thought to make covers out of the Minnie.

Can I just make a 3 sided envelope, or does it have type be closed off (an flap at the top to hold the pillow in?

Any better ideas out there?

Help
Mike

Calling it a sensory pillow makes me think it is meant for a person with special needs, though that could be entirely wrong. I would check with DD's friend to ask the question. If it's for a child who is apt to take the pillow out of the cover, you may need to secure it with stitching.

I know this child, and she is not likely to take the pillow out of the case.
She is the one who picked out the Minkie.

I think the simplest way would be to cut 2 squares of the Minky. Stay stitch along 2 bottom edges to prevent raveling and stretch, put the 2 squares right side together and pin all around. I would then stitch all around leaving an opening on the bottom where the stay stitching is to turn and stuff. I would hand stitch the opening closed or machine stitch it with matching thread since the Minky pile will hide the stitching.

Why not make the cover with the 'overlap' on the center back side..if there are any concerns about it being taken off, you could put a velcro patch, buttonhole/button, snap, ribbon tie. This is such a quick method of making pillow covers.

Hi,
Just a follow-up. I used linnen to make the Sensory Blanket, then made an envelope with the Minkie, then sewed it shut. My DD's friend will do ties abour every 6 inches to keep everything in place.
It came out quite good I think. I didn't get any pictures, but will make another one for her next week.
I'll post pictures then.
