Default Somewhat 'repurposing' a wooden dome top machine frame

My youngest stepdaughter received beautiful dome top (Oak) treadle sewing machine as a gift. Her father had a wood shop at the time. He removed the existing machine from the frame, covered the opening with a piece of oak paneling and set her electric model in place. When the dome was set over top the new machine, it was about an inch-and-half too short. So he simply added an oak band from scraps he had a in the shop. Now she has a lovely antique appearing sewing machine in her home AND a place to keep her sewing machine when not in use.
