saw this post on facebook and i admit i laughed out loud at most of the comments. i would say the bobbin winder and the purple thang.

Definitely the purple thang. I’ve never used mine, in 10 years. I got some acrylic templates as a gift that I’ve yet to use, but I don’t count those because I didn’t buy them or ask for them. And it was a sweet gesture from a non-quilty friend.

Honestly I have so many tools that do the same thing that I tend to pick up the first one handy and use it leaving the others alone. I love my bobbin winder though. I put a weight in the bottom (it's hollow) and it doesn't tip over. I used the John Flynn system for years for baby quilts. I guess the most useless has been the Ideal Seam Guide. It won't stay in place at all, even when it was new.

The June Tailor shape cut. I thought it would be such a time saver. I think I have used it once and found it took longer to evenly fold the fabric in four (especially if it is a long piece) than it did to whip out my 24 inch ruler and just cut. Plus the material it is made of is quite thin. If you get up too much speed or pressure you can blow right thru the end of the plastic.

Several years ago I bought those patterns that you pin to a quilt top to machine quilt. Nothing but a pain!
I used to use the bobbin winder a lot but now I just use the bobbin winder on the machines.
