Default Hand Quilting - Near The Edge

Nearly all of my hand quilting is planned to fit each block. I would like very much to do some kind of all over design on my next one. Do you just let it go over the edge, so to speak? I would like to not have to do a ton of math with this.

I don't do all over quilting, like pantograph in long-arm quilting, but I do quilt separate designs on my borders. Even though you are going to cover the edges with the binding -- and therefore catch the threads of the seams -- I would do the same with hand quilting because of the risk of losing stitches before you get the binding sewn on. Run your stitches near the edge and then turn another direction while continuing stitching. Bury the knots as usual.

some of my hand stitches go under the binding. I dont worry about such details, but then I am not an award winning quilter. But my quilts look just fine.

I get as close to the edge as possible so the area under the binding has quilting on there, otherwise I find the binding can look wavy and puffy if it's covering a non-quilted area.

I don't go all the way to the edge - or beyond - with my hand quilting. I've done an all over motif on a couple of quilts but I also usually have borders on my quilts and do a separate motif on the borders. I am currently working on a king size hunter's star quilt that will not (at least at this point I don't think) have borders so I may have to do a bit of calculating myself on this one.

I did hand quilt this all over design, using a stencil, on one of my minis. The quilting goes all the way to the binding. Here's a picture and a close up of the quilting.
