Default family games

during the 1950s, these were some of the games i played -

croquet, checkers, sorry, monopoly (did not and still do not like the game), canasta, old maid -

mostly while at the neighbors ( i think they thought i was their fifth child) -

do you have memories of those types of games?

We always got the cheap board games for birthdays. As there were 6 of us, we played plenty of board games. Also a lot of scrabble. That was my grandmother favorite.

I loved croquet. one summer, all th kids in the neighborhood had a big competition. we also had a 5,000 Rummy game going.
miss those games and the days. where i live now.. besides golf, bocci ball is a very big thing. Playoffs go till the end of September, with a big catering hall dinner and award ceremony.

When we were little my sister used to cry every time she got the old maid and my brothers somehow always made sure she got it! haha
Love cards, monolopy, never liked checkers much, never played canasta. In Ohio Eucher is a big card game and we learned it but now I forgot how to play. When we go to our son's in DC they always have fun board games to play. I still love to play games!
My sibs and I played a lot of Rummy, crazy eights, and pitch (high low jack game)
I loved War but my sibs never wanted to play that one with me lol

Yes, we played board games as youngsters, then played with my children, then grands...now trying to introduce to ggkids...if they can be distracted from those darn tablets! But I must admit the older broad games were sturdier than the new ones.....example, found a new KURPLUNK ....so cheaply made, but not cheaply priced!

We still play games! Skipbo is a favorite and so is Rummycube! At Christmas I put out a puzzle and that got a lot of attention. My family is pretty good about putting down their phones.

Wow I haven't thought about this in a while......Stratego, Mousetrap and Parchesi. I remember my mom struggling trying to put the Mousetrap board together. We also had a Creepy Crawler machine and we would put the plastic creatures everywhere...my moms underware drawer, the salad in the fridge, dads shoes, etc.
