Default Mire Option?
There is a video on Youtube (not sure if I'm allowed to link) called 8 Sewing Hacks that Everyone Should Know. At the 1:50 mark, they demonstrate how to make an easy mitred corner.
Do you think this would work with a quilt top?

This is basically what you do when you bring the backing around to the front to bind.
