Warm & Natural double sided fusible question

I purchased Warm & Natural double sided fusible batting for a placemat project. I am wondering if it would work for an applique project? I will be hand appliqueing this quilt? I'm not sure if the fusible will allow my needle to penetrate easily.

Obviously this is a dumb question because I will be appliqueing before adding batting! I resurrected this project from a UFO... I will begin from scratch!
