Default Grandma's Quilt

My grandmother passed away in 2008. This quilt top was found in her closet. It is hand pieced and made of some variety of 1970's polyester knit. I am not sure when the quilt was made but I am guessing sometime in the 70's or 80's. She did quilt all the way up to the late 90's before her health declined to a point that she was unable to sew any longer. I completed her quilt this year. I hand quilted and hand bound the quilt. The backing and binding are all contemporary fabrics. Does anyone recognize the pattern? My grandmother was an accomplished quilter and had been quilting since the 30's and I even have a picture of her showing off a quilt in 1930's that she and a friend made together. It is possible that it is her own design but I thought maybe a worldwide network of quilters might recognize it if it was a common design.

I don't know what design it is, but I wanted to say that it's really pretty. It's so nice to have something passed down in the family from another quilter. I have 2 regular quilts and a doll quilt that my grandmother made for me plus her treadle sewing machine. I love them.

I don't know the design either but wanted to comment that it is very pretty and how lucky you are to have finished it. Just to know your grandmother touched those fabrics must mean a lot to you.

The flower is very similar to the one in Block #1 of Mrs. Lincoln's Sampler Quilt pattern. No way of knowing for sure but she might have enlarged the six-petal flower for her own use. Could it be possible that she adapted this pattern for her own use? It also looks like a variation of the hexagon flower. I agree that it does belong to the 70's era. Congratulations for saving it.

I really like the orange in the quilt, so cheerful. You would have made your grandma proud.
