Default walked away... might go back FW

A friend of mine had this at an antique shop. I got excited. missing bobbin case.

Duplicates go from $25-$75. Refinished originals are around $90. Has anyone had good success with copies? if it is good, can you PM me a link if that is allowed?

leonf- I'm not answering your question but wanted to say this:
I have 4 FW's in black. I have one white one. It's the only one I don't like.
It's really finicky. I don't really know why.
Sorry, that's not what you asked though

I have a black FW and sold the white one I had. I had not intended to sell either one, but she I know kept hounding me for one of them until I finally sold her the white one, thinking it was the most wanted. I have yet to be around her when she is using it at a retreat of meeting, that doesn't complain about it. I know she is bad about setting tensions too tight, but an extended time of sewing with the white FW machine causes the tension to loosen too much.

I know one person with both a white and a black one, in the UK, and she has no problems with the white one and use it regularly. I have only come across black ones for sale near me. Maybe it's some kind of minor issue that can be sorted out on your white SusieQOH? I have to say I have a weak spot for the earlier black version, with gold decals and art nouveau decor on the chromed plates.

If I found a white one for that price I'd grab it up. I think you'd be better off with an original BC rather than a new one. Yes they're a little spendy but whaddya gonna do right? Gotta have it, and even at $90 for it you're still ahead of the game.

I'd buy it in a heart beat. If nothing else, you could make a buck by flipping it. The black ones go for $250.00 at least, even on Goodwill. Of course, I don't know if it has a case or any accessories, either.

Mickey2 thanks for your comment. It's probably something minor, as you say. I just need to play around with it. Lately I've been playing with my new Juki for FMQ and that's taken up a lot of my time. I'm marginally better at FMQ at this time ha ha

I think Cari meant a vintage bobbin case would be 90. But if it's 125 and add 90 for bobbin case still way ahead of price I see white ones getting (or even black ones for that matter)! But it is a good question about the case. Those green cases are pricy if you can find them.
