Maybe just do the cutting. Then you could start right in sewing.

The Olfa was impossible. I have an order in for a new cutter and an inquiry about replacement parts. Meanwhile, I'm using the Martelli, needing 3 or 4 passes to cut each piece. I have other things I could work on that don't require cutting, but I want to work on the mystery!

Marcia, I would think a few brighter reds would be fine, as long as they're not too orange.

Poor Lisa. No cutter. I did mine on the Go! I cut panels and kept them 18 inches long about 10 inches wide. Yes, I did make myself some scraps. But I think I have half of it cut. My furniture movers are due here to move cabinet upstairs so I must quit for now. We aren't supposed to mention sizes, but I can give you a percentage of what I've got completely done: .04583333%. Yeah, I got that much done.

joe'smom I'm so sorry your cutter broke. They are So expensive. I could never break myself of cutting olfa style. I've had their reps show me again and again at shows, and I can see and feel how much better it could be...but this old dog just won't learn new tricks. I will mail you mine if you are right handed and you can slip me some scraps when you get around to it.

this is how I always keep my colors right when using other than bonnie. I read the clue a couple of times and then look at my cheat sheet and double check three times I've got it right. the gold is her orange, and I'm still wavering between blue or black for her blue.

I have 100 units finished and pinned. So cute! and listening to a Red Wall cd book.

I have the Accuquilt die number well rats I ripped the tag off of it. It is about 23 inches long and 10 inches wide. It cuts 5 of the 1 1/2 inch strips.

Let me make a tute for those who are not familiar with the Go!

This is my machine which I bought used off Craigslist about 10 years ago. It is a hand crank and not the electric one that makes a lot of sense now that I am older. This is the 5 strip 1 1/2 inch, an older model as the newer ones have a different color foam inbetween the knives so you can see where you are going. I have cut 6 layers, but that is tough going and I would stick with 2 or 4.

The whole premise is that you need to have a fabric that is Goldilocks: Not too big, not too small.

It needs to be wider than the last knife. This die is 7 1/2 inches wide, so my fabric must cover the outside of both outside knives. Now of course you will waste some, but I seem to waste a lot more using my rotary cutter. I am forever cutting it wonky.

Page # 2.

This is the finished product. The first strip has two layers because that is how I laid the two fabrics in there. With all the static electricity I got today my two pieces didn't stay together well.

One hint is to slide the cutting mat (plastic) off to one side or one end. Don't try to pick it up.

These are the two fabrics ready to be cut. The neutral on the bottom right sides together and the red on the top. Then place the plastic mat on top of that and somehow horse the die and matt into the cutter while pushing with your leg. The electric one would be nice.

The top and bottom don't need to be worried about. You will be slicing that up anyway.

Tnis is after I have slid the plastic matt off and am trying to get the static electricity to calm down with a dryer sheet. In this shot you can see that the two outside strips are not the correct measurements.

I would be happy to answer any questions you might have. I tried to get a number off the website for that die and could not. Sometimes you have to watch for sales and for cutting matts.
